Fit out is a different sport from retail buying

Buying two hundred workstations for one building isn’t buying two hundred desks. It’s buying a system that has to arrive in a sequence, install in a sequence, and match itself across four floors.

That means you care about batch consistency far more than a retail buyer does. Ask whether your whole quantity comes from one production run. If it doesn’t, ask for the colour and finish to be matched across runs in writing, because two batches of the same laminate can differ enough to be visible under office lighting.

Task chairs are where the certification questions bite

If you’re selling into a market that expects a standard on office seating, raise it in the first conversation, not the fifth. Some Foshan factories test to international standards and have the reports. Plenty don’t and will say yes anyway because they think you’re asking whether the chair is good.

Ask for the test report itself, with the lab name and the date on it. A report for a different model of chair is the usual thing you get handed, so check the model number on the report against the model you’re buying.

Gas lifts and castors are the parts that come back

Warranty claims on office chairs cluster on two components and neither is the part anybody looks at in the showroom. Ask what gas lift class is fitted and ask for spare castors and lifts to be shipped with the order. They cost almost nothing in the container and they save you an air freight bill later.
