A set is a pricing device, not a design decision
Bedroom furniture is quoted as a set because a set hides the margin. The bed carries the design and the wardrobe carries the profit, or the other way round, and you can’t tell which until you ask for the pieces priced separately.
Always ask for a line by line price even if you intend to buy the whole set. Sellers expect it, and the moment the pieces are separated you can see which item is worth buying here and which one you should buy from the hall down the road.
Finish is the thing to protect in transit
High gloss lacquer looks spectacular in a showroom and it’s unforgiving in a container. Every handling scuff shows. If your market wants gloss, budget for a higher damage rate or pay for better packing, and get that decision made before you sign, not after you open the doors.
Veneer over board isn’t a problem in itself. Veneer over board that has been stored in a humid warehouse and then dropped into a dry climate is a problem, and it shows up as lifting at the edges eight weeks after delivery. Ask how long the piece has been on the floor.
Wardrobes and the measurement everyone forgets
Measure the doorway, the lift and the stairwell of your actual destination before you fall in love with a wardrobe. This sounds obvious. It’s still the most common expensive mistake, and it’s worse in Europe than in the Middle East because the buildings are older and the stairs turn.
Ask whether the wardrobe is knock down or assembled. Assembled wardrobes eat container space and arrive damaged more often. Knock down needs fittings that survive, so look at the cam locks and the dowels rather than the doors.

Both, at very different prices, often in the same hall. The word the seller uses may not survive translation, so ask to see an unfinished edge or a cut sample. Seeing it on the piece settles the question in seconds.
How long does a bedroom order take to produce?
It depends on whether the piece is stock or made to order, and stock is more common in the budget halls than buyers assume. Ask for the production time in writing on the proforma invoice, because a verbal lead time is the first thing to slip.
