Exploring Foshan and Guangzhou Between Showroom Days

One of the joys of shopping in Foshan and Guangzhou is what waits after the halls shut at six. You’re right in the home of Cantonese food, old courtyards and lively riverfront streets.

Foshan evenings: Zumiao Temple and Lingnan Tiandi

Twenty-five minutes north of Lecong in Chancheng sits Zumiao, the old Foshan temple famed for glazed ceramic roof art, lion dance shows and quiet courtyards.

Right beside it, Lingnan Tiandi turns brick lanes into leafy cafes, tea rooms, local kitchens and relaxed bars. It’s the nicest spot in Foshan to sit down for dinner after a productive day of ordering.

Shunde food right next to the furniture strip

Lecong sits inside Shunde, named by UNESCO as a City of Gastronomy and known across China as the home of great Cantonese cooks.

Even a simple Shunde dinner brings steamed fish, crisp roast goose, double-skin milk pudding and claypot rice that beat pricey city tables at a fraction of the cost.

Quiet gardens and lakeside walks

If your stay spans a Sunday or you finish ordering early, Liang Garden in Chancheng and Qinghui Garden in Shunde offer cool stone paths, koi ponds and shaded pavilions.

Closer to the Lecong halls, Century Lotus Park and Shunfengshan Park give you open green paths and lake air before a flight.

An evening or final day in Guangzhou

Because central Guangzhou sits under an hour away, many visitors stay there or spend their last day in town. Zhujiang New Town pairs the Opera House with river walks facing Canton Tower and night boats on the Pearl River.

Older quarters like Shamian Island and Yongqing Fang mix tree-lined walks with morning dim sum tea houses, rounding off a great trip.
